iMAGING

Interactive Mobile Assisted system and Guidance learnING for RFID technology

Teaching and learning methodology about the application of new technologies for product identification and traceability like RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) in the business world.

Background

There are many platforms that give users the opportunity to undertake online training to learn about science and expand their knowledge and skills. But users also seek a new system or learning methodology with which they can interact and simulate real situations and environments – and that is where the project iMAGING comes in.

The aim of iMAGING is to offer RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology to the textile sector in a simple, intuitive and, above all, interactive way, carrying out simulations and playing with the technology in a directed and interactive way. The achievement of this project will support the acquisition of key competences in the shape of knowledge and skills that are appropriate to a specific context and can be fundamental for individuals involved with RFID technology and its application to the textile industry.

Objectives and aims

The aim of the project is to develop a mobile application to transfer knowledge and innovations about RFID technology based on the content of the AulaTextil platform. This is a training platform for transferring content via an e-learning course. It has been specifically adapted for training company workers, unemployed people and highly-educated students.

The goal of iMAGING is to help companies to overcome the continuous challenge of having to evolve and adapt to new technology. This evolution is closely linked to the competitiveness of companies in terms of greater effectiveness and efficiency. iMAGING will offer the student assistance in acquiring new skills and knowledge, enable users to manage their time and decide when to use the tool in order to allow them to balance work and family life at the same time.

The project’s goals are closely associated with the European Commission’s priorities in terms of promoting the use of ICT and e-learning methods. It also promotes a close relationship with working life, adapting to the needs of on-going training and self-learning in the labour market.

Results

This project will be based on the e-learning AulaTextil platform, which offers the possibility to transfer knowledge and innovation to company workers, unemployed people, vocational students and others who want to learn and widen their knowledge about new technologies and especially the application of RFID in the textile sector. With this technology, enterprises will be able to obtain important advantages and benefits in several business areas, like logistics, stocks, quality control, etc. This system will use a new learning methodology and an interactive platform where the users will have access to the learning content. The learning contents will be available for all kinds of mobile devices, such us mobile phones, tablets, portable PCs etc., and different platforms, such as Android, iOS, Blackberry etc., since it will be a web app.

With iMAGING, we will develop a teaching tool for mobile devices which will improve the business scope, in order to obtain VET more open and more tailored to labour market needs and society in general. Use on mobile devices supports geographical mobility; the use of 5 languages, i.e. English, German, Polish, Portuguese and Spanish will help students to learn in other languages and make teaching contents more accessible to other people.
