Vocational education and training standards in agriculture, forestry and environmental safety at heights

Rationale and Motivation

Accidents and fatalities in high risk works at height (WAH) activities, particularly within the agricultural and environmental sectors of industry, are increasing in some European countries. Previous projects also related with health and safety issues developed a framework for common European VET competence standards, which can be adapted and further developed for use within the WAH occupations. Previous initiatives focused on improving VET standards for practitioners, but not for instructors.

Aims and Target Groups

VET-SAFETY has two main objectives: to develop new standards in the use of WAH activities within the broader skill sectors of agriculture and environment, in order to raise awareness on safety standards and reduce accidents and fatalities of workers; and to facilitate the dissemination of best practices and high quality instruction amongst VET providers, by developing the trainers’ skills during WAH courses promoted in different partners’ countries, exchanging knowledge, innovations and expertise.

Partners and Outcomes

The consortium consists of a very experienced consortium composed of 12 partners from UK, Czech Republic, Ireland, Estonia, Italy, Slovakia, Hungary, Denmark, Spain, Romania and Austria, whom will provide the following outcomes:

  • Instructor Training Guidance
  • International VET Data Warehouse
  • Certifications and Qualifications development
