ACTIVE Employment

Strengthening the capacity of social partners and administrative units to implement active measures of employment at local and regional level in the South-Western region

Background and objectives

In cooperation with the municipal administration and educational institutions of the South-Western region of Romania, the two-year European Social Fund financed project “Active-E” has been developed to improve labour market structures in Romania.

Among the 15 administrative and territorial units of the Craiova region there is a signed alliance agreement regarding the sustainable development of the area. It has been decided to develop certain measures to improve the employability of more than 1.000 inactive and long-term unemployed persons from the region. These measures to improve employability, integrated in strategic instruments which increase the employment rate, as well as the development of human resources, are the general objectives of the project Active-E.

Through the development of capabilities, which facilitate the access to the labour market, the project also contributes to the overall objective of developing human capital and increase competitiveness. It links education and lifelong learning with the modern and flexible labour market and thus increases the opportunities for a future active participation of the target group.

Activities

  • Developing an integrated package of active employment measures adapted to the local social and economic specifics within the project area.
  • Improving the employability of 1,150 persons from the target group through the implementation of active employment measures plan adapted to the given area, using direct and specific measures.
  • Facilitating access to and exchange of relevant information regarding the labour market for the main participants (target group), as well as for secondary ones (regional social actors involved) by setting up a regional network for communication, information and promotion. This also includes monitoring and assessment of the action plan and participation at labour market events, such as job fairs.
