SouthZEB
nZEB training in the Southern EU countries – Maintaining building traditions |
Background
With the objective of fostering the energy efficiency of the building sector through the adoption of near Zero Energy Buildings (buildings that have very high energy performance) concepts in new or existing buildings, the SouthZEB project develops training modules targeted towards specific professionals (Engineers, Architects, municipality technicians and decision makers) in Southern European countries (Greece, Cyprus, Southern Italy and Portugal). The training modules will be implemented by the project partners in the target Southern European Countries (less advanced on the progress towards nearly Zero Energy Buildings), leveraging on the experience and know-how from front runner project partners countries (Austria, UK, Northern Italy).
Target group
The target audience for the SouthZEB training modules are professionals that are involved in the building sector, either in the design of new buildings or the rehabilitation of existing ones. The following list provides an overview of the target audience for the project:
- Building Professionals / developer companies is the largest target group, including all intermediate and senior professionals (engineers, architects, municipality employees) in the Southern European countries. They facilitate the construction of new buildings towards the nZEB targets;
- Authorities / decision makers will also benefit from training modules prepared to support the use of appropriate funding schemes and other incentives for the promotion of nZEB. Decision makers have been involved in the project course in order to better understand the legislation and regional roadmaps towards the application of the relevant EU directives;
- Property owners will benefit from the project effects as energy efficient buildings are less costly for the users. By facilitating the training of professionals in nZEB building, the local property value is raised in a long-term sustainable way;
- Vocational training / Certification bodies transfer the projects results to the community under a well European wide recognized educational framework.
Main products
The SouthZEB project will develop ten training modules and assessment schemes for professionals involved in nZEB building process. Eight modules specifically directed towards architects, engineers and municipal employees, while the remaining two are devoted to managerial nZEB project skills. The course level of the modules are compatible with European Qualification Framework at EQF level 4. Training will occur in each one of the four pilot project countries (Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Portugal) first directed towards training trainers and, after, training the trainees.
