Raising motivation of foreign language learners by implementing modern ways of learning in tourism sector

In many European countries the tourist sector includes not only big chains of hotels and services offered by travel agencies but also a great amount of small tourist pensions, hotels, agro tourist services, small restaurants etc. which are mostly provided by whole families as a “family business” including grandparents, parents, children and other employees. For this target group the ability of using foreign languages is an essential factor for raising competitiveness, entrepreneurship in the tourism sector. In general, learning foreign languages makes people more open and understanding for various cultures and views.

The main objective of the project is to develop and promote methodologies to motivate language learners (people working in the tourism sector) and to enhance their capacity for language learning. In addition to this, our partnership aims to develop foreign language training concepts by employing learning contents that reflect the business needs and interests of the target group, the language training concept will include the concept of self-directed and family learning of foreign languages for people working in tourism sector.

Our aim is to collect and adapt contextualized products:

  1. learning tools for potential learners working in the tourism sector
  2. teaching tools for language teachers and trainers in order to motivate learners and use modern ways of learning, especially in the tourism sector
