BSOLE

Basic Skills On Line For Europe

BSOLE is an initiative funded by the eTEN Office. We are investigating the European market for the deployment of multi-lingual e-Learning products for adults with basic skills deficits.

The definition of basic skills most commonly used in Community-funded programmes is: "the ability to read, write and use mathematics at a level necessary to function, and progress at work and in society in general."

Our learners include:

  • employees who need to upgrade their skills in the workplace, especially where the introduction of computer technology demands greater literacy, numeracy and ICT skills
  • young people with basic skills needs who are socially excluded
  • young people and adults, both already in work or unemployed, who wish to improve their employability
  • refugees, immigrants and others at risk who need basic language skills in their host Member State.
